Solutions30 Energies carried out the modernization of the Valence‑sur‑Baïse photovoltaic power plant (Gers), in operation since 2010, as part of a project carried out for TENERGIES, alongside SMA Solar Technology, a European manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters.
This retrofit operation was carried out over a period of less than four months and involved the replacement of 96 inverters with next‑generation SMA equipment, without major modifications to the existing infrastructure. The decision to retain the architecture of the 8.8 MW power plant made it possible to limit interventions, reduce costs and timelines, while minimizing the impact on production during the works phase.
Solutions30 Energies teams handled all technical operations, from the removal of the former centralized inverters to the installation of decentralized inverters, the upgrading of electrical cabling, and the full recommissioning of the power plant. This approach made it possible to optimize the installation’s performance while extending its lifespan.
The results are significant:
- a 5% increase in availability,
- an additional 600 MWh of annual production,
- equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 300 people, and
- 160 metric tons of CO₂ avoided each year.
Beyond technical performance, this project illustrates a strong conviction: the energy transition also relies on optimizing and modernizing existing assets. Retrofit solutions have become a strategic lever to strengthen the reliability of solar assets, sustainably improve their performance, and accelerate the production of local, low‑carbon energy.
